Updates…

We’re settled in at the hospital. A hospital midwife examined Tayler just now; cervix is 7.5 cm dilated. Water hasn’t broken yet- could be soon. Our midwife Kari is guessing 12-1 pm. A few things worth noting-

  • The epidural has been very effective and a positive experience overall. Their approaches have changed, with new meds and also with dosing changes. Tayler has button to add more epidural if she needs it, otherwise it’s dosed intermittently. The goal is to maximize mobility and other sensation/function while effectively managing pain from contractions. Tayler has reported that she can’t feel the contractions, even though they’re gradually increasing in intensity. She’s been able to sleep for several hours, thankfully. At the same time, she’s retained much of her mobility and other sensation- she can move her legs pretty much normally.
  • Michael (Tayler’s dad) stopped by.
  • The amount of pitocin is being gradually increased over time, which has also seemed to be effective in augmenting progression without being unnecessarily aggressive.
  • Tayler’s been able to continue to eat and drink

Generally, although this wasn’t the original plan, things are going very well.
